The Annual 45th Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO)
Council Conference was held from January 26 – 29, 2010 in Cebu, the Philippines.
Attending the conference were more than 200 delegates who are Ministers of Education,
High Officials from SEAMEO member countries, affiliate members, and international
organizations. The delegation from Vietnam joining this event was led by the Deputy
Prime Minister, Minister of Education and Training, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thien Nhan.
The SEAMEO Council Conference focuses on developing common policies in education
and training, especially major activities for the region. High on the agenda were
discussion and agreement on following issues: education for pre-school children,
providing education to disadvantaged communities, integration of climate change
in the school curriculum, harmonization of higher education in Southeast Asia,
building capacity on maximizing the use of language in teaching, integration of
ICT in teaching and learning, and strengthening visibility of SEAMEO, among others.
Besides, bilateral meetings among delegations were held in the aim at promoting
collaboration in regional countries.
