After two weeks in operation, the Summer Fun 2010 course 1 concluded on June
18, 2010. A closing ceremony was organized on the same day for as many as 100
students who attended the course from June 7 to 18, 2010.
This special two-week English course was designed for children from 7 to 15 years
old. Taking part in the course, students were exposed to a wide variety of activities
such as painting, singing, chanting, dancing, storytelling and playing educational
games.
These activities enabled students to develop their English language skills in
an interactive and, most importantly, fun environment. At the same time, students
were given the opportunity to interact with foreign teachers from a diverse range
of cultural backgrounds – America, England, Australia, and Scotland. The teachers
helped students improve their knowledge and understanding of foreign cultures,
values and people of these countries. This year, the Overseas Study Department
(OSD) with the assistance of the Kiddy Program will send a group of students to
the National University of Singapore for a two- week study tour. In preparation
for their study, students spent 24 hours learning communicative English and exploring
people, country and cultures of Singapore at SEAMEO RETRAC.
In the wake of the success of the Summer Fun course 1, course 2 will be conducted
at SEAMEO RETRAC from July 5 to 16, 2010.
