Supporting a robust global international student ecosystem
Abstract:
International students are crucial to the success of our postsecondary institutions by contributing to the academic mission, research innovation and cultural diversity. They are also vibrant citizens of the communities in which they live leading to a positive interconnected world predicated on a global collaborative ecosystem. However, this international student ecosystem remains vulnerable to geopolitical shifts, economic pressures, institutional barriers and governmental policies. This talk will explore strategic approaches to building a resilient and inclusive international student infrastructure that benefits students, institutions, and host countries alike.
Drawing on data this session will highlight best practices in recruitment, integration, support services, and post-graduation pathways. Focus will be placed on developing integrated sustainable models that prioritize equity, well-being, and long-term impact. The goal will be to provide practical frameworks for cross-sector partnerships, digital innovation, and adaptive policies that reinforce the international student experience and its broader societal value.
