Speakers of the Webinar are senior educational leaders from the Ministries of Education of the Southeast Asian countries and invited speakers from different international organizations who are invited to share their experience, expertise and research findings with the participants through their presentations.

Keynote Speaker 1

Dr. Randall Martin

Executive Director, British Columbia Council for International Education (BCCIE), Canada


Dr. Randall Martin has currently been the Executive Director at the British Columbia Council for International Education (BCCIE, Canada), a Crown Corporation of the Province of British Columbia charged with advancing the provincial agenda on International Education, since 2006.

Within over a decade leading BCCIE, Dr. Martin has devoted himself to different activities and programs to promote international education in and for British Columbia and to enhance the province’s international reputation for quality education.

Dr. Martin has more than 30 year-experience in post-secondary education, development education, project management and implementation, and international education, having worked on projects in institutions, associations, and societies across British Columbia, Canada and in different regions around the world.

Not only is Dr. Martin a recognized administrator and leader but he is also the author and/or the co-author of numerous papers, a sought-after speaker, and a regular presenter at national and international conferences and symposia. Moreover, Dr. Martin also regularly engages in an advisory or external review capacity for institutions and other jurisdictions.

Keynote Speaker 2

Mr. Nyi Nyi Thaung

Programme Specialist, Section for Inclusive Quality Education (IQE), 
UNESCO Asia-Pacific Regional Bureau for Education, Bangkok, Thailand

Nyi Nyi (Mr Nyi Nyi THAUNG) is currently the Programme Specialist (Education Planning and Management) as well as acting Chief of the IQE (Inclusive Quality Education) section at UNESCO Bangkok Regional Bureau for Education. Prior to joining UNESCO Bangkok, he served as Chief of Education Team at UNESCO Islamabad Office.

He also worked as Programme Specialist at various UNESCO Offices and Institute, such as the Section of Education Policy at UNESCO HQs (Paris), and UIS (UNESCO Institute for Statistics) Headquarters in Montreal, Canada.

He has therefore accumulated more than 20 years of development experience in the areas of education, planning and statistics, both at UNESCO field and regional Offices, including HQ and institute, leading and implementing education programmes and projects in more than 50 countries in Asia and the Pacific, Africa and Arab States. Mr Thaung, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics and a Master Degree in Economics.

The Webinar will be open for all participants in Southeast Asian countries who are interested in the aforementioned topics. Participants of the Webinar may include:

  • Educational staff and governmental officials in different national and international institutions/organizations;
