New Appointment of SEAMEO RETRAC’s Director

Ms. Le Thi Thuy Duong has been officially appointed as the new Director of SEAMEO RETRAC for the 2024-2027 term. Ms Duong’s appointment was formally presented by Deputy Minister, Associate Professor Dr Nguyen Van Phuc, during a ceremony organized by the Ministry of Education and Training on September 06, 2024.

In his remarks, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Phuc highlighted that SEAMEO RETRAC, established in 1996, is a public service unit of Vietnam with international obligations. Despite its financial autonomy, the Center has enhanced Vietnam’s educational standing in Southeast Asia and gained the trust of the Ministry of Education and Training.

“Looking ahead, I expect the center to continue its proactive integration to meet the evolving needs of the educational landscape, notably with many countries exploring and adopting Artificial Intelligence in education. Most importantly, I urge the leadership and staff to maintain internal solidarity, creativity, and dynamism as you enter this new phase.” H.E. In her acceptance speech, Ms Duong expressed her gratitude for the trust placed in her and outlined her key priorities. She emphasized strengthening staff qualifications and improving operational efficiency to establish SEAMEO RETRAC as a leading center in the region. Additionally, she committed to expand international cooperation and enhance the quality of the Centre’s programmes to better meet societal needs and align with SEAMEO’s mission.
