Field Trip to The American School (TAS): Exploring American Education in Practice
On July 24, 2026, participants of the training workshops “Exploring America: 250 Years and Beyond” took part in a field trip to The American School (TAS). The activity was organized as part of the training program for English teachers by SEAMEO RETRAC with support from the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.

The field trip was designed to deepen participants’ understanding of the American education system and explore effective approaches to integrating culture and history into English language teaching. During the visit, participants toured the school campus and attended presentations by TAS educators on the school’s educational philosophy, student-centered practices, and approaches to teaching culture and history in meaningful and engaging ways.

Through the campus tour and presentations, participants gained valuable insights into how American educational values – such as fostering individual potential, promoting inclusion, and supporting students’ holistic development – are reflected in school practices. They also explored practical strategies for integrating cultural and historical content into English language classrooms, while exchanging ideas with education professionals and gaining inspiration to enrich their own teaching practices. As an integral component of the training workshops, the field trip further strengthened participants’ professional development and promoted innovative, globally oriented teaching.
