Workshop on “Teaching and Learning English Effectively” and the Grand Opening of the SEAMEO RETRAC’s New Campus

SEAMEO RETRAC June 13, 2010 conducted a workshop on “How to teach and learn English effectively.” The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Do Huy Thinh, Center Director together with a group of experts of English currently working at the Center.

Running parallel to the workshop was the inauguration of RETRAC’s new campus at 205-207 Tran Hung Dao B, Dist 5, Ho Chi Minh City. The goal of opening RETRAC’s new branch is to bring better educational opportunities for those who can hardly approach quality English language training and wish to improve their English competency.

The workshop aimed at providing participants with opportunities to share experiences in teaching and learning English effectively, achieving high scores in TOEFL/IELTS, overcoming obstacles in learning pronunciation and vocabulary, and applying ICT in teaching and learning as well as to provide information about English language programs at the new campus. Attending this event, participants were also able to explore the learning environment, to communicate with English teachers, to take the free placement test coming with a 10% of discount if signing up for classes at the campus.
In addition to the participation of 150 students, parents, working people who are interested in learning English for the sake of their schools and work, there also was the presence of press corps, and TV station to cover this special event.
