Funded by Belgium Technical Corporation, SEAMEO RETRAC organized three training courses for ninety high school (HS) administrators (principals and vice principals) in Vietnam r in October, November and December, 2009 respectively.
The training courses gave priority to HS administrators living in disadvantaged areas, being women or from ethnic minorities. The training program focuses on perspectives, experiences and new trends in HS leadership and management in the region and the world. Training topics included Strategic Planning, Instructional Leadership, Quality Management in Education, Assessing Teachers’ and Students’ Performance, Human Resource Development, Public Relations and ICT in Educational Administration. A variety of training methods were employed including lecturing, discussing, problem solving, and experience sharing. In addition to classroom activities, school visits to outstanding high schools in Ho Chi Minh City and the presentations by selected guest speakers were also included in the program. Good feedback from the participants was noted, especially the practical knowledge and skills, and experience sharing provided in the training program.
