Library and Information Center (LIC), established in 1998, acts as an information
center gathering textbooks, reference books, instructional materials of all kinds
and teaching aids in various fields of education, mostly in language education
and educational leadership and management.
It also provides information about other SEAMEO regional centers and Southeast
Asian education systems. Its activities are, therefore, intended for educational
administrators, educators, teachers, and researchers in all levels of education.
I. MATERIAL RESOURCES
With nearly 10,000 books, articles and other instructional materials, mostly
in English, LIC aims at satisfying the needs for research and self-study of its
readers at different levels.
Original textbooks and reference books
Newspapers and magazines including professional materials such as TESOL Quarterly, RELC Journal
(a Journal of Language Teaching and Research in Southeast Asia), Guidelines
(a Magazine for Language Teachers), and information or entertainment magazines
such as Reader’s Digest, Newsweek, Time, Vietnam News, Saigon Times Daily,
Thanh Nien Daily and Tuoi Tre, Thanh Nien. Newsletters from partner institutions
are also available.

APPLICATION FOR A LIBRARY CARD
To become a member of LIC, you need to register at the Administration Office
(R.108) for a library card. For current students, student cards can be used in
lieu of a library card. Otherwise, an annual membership fee of VND 100,000 is
required.
For registration, you need to present your identification card, a recommendation
of your company or your school and submit two 2x3 size photos.

II. Self-Access Learning Center
1. Objectives of SALC: To help you to
Learn at your own pace.
Choose your own material.
Focus on your weaknesses or decide on the skill(s) that you need to improve.
Evaluate your own progress, and when necessary, with tutors.
2. Requirements needed to use SALC
A library card is required. Please apply for it NOW if you have not got
it yet.

5. Content of the program:
In the library, assignment sheets are provided for all English skills –
separate or integrated skills - (Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing,
Pronunciation, or Listening & Speaking, Reading & Writing..…) from
beginning to advanced levels.
A collection of websites is available for you to improve your listening,
reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation or TOEFL test-taking
skills.
You can select topics(s)/skills that you are interested in or need to improve,
complete the tasks assigned, and then check your achievements with tutors
or by yourself. If you choose the writing tasks, your writings will be corrected
by the tutor at the library
6. Who can use SALC?
All current students of different programs to improve their English skills
outside the classroom.
7. Guidelines
To use the materials in the Self Access Learning Center (SALC), please follow
the steps below:
Contact the librarian to create a self-study profile.
Consult the tutors/ teachers to decide what skill(s) you need to improve.
Choose the file/folder that contains worksheets of the skill(s) you need
at your appropriate level.
Take ONLY ONE sheet each time, complete it, and see the tutor for his /her
comments or get the answer key to correct yourself. If you don’t have enough
time to finish the assignment in the library, you can ask for permission
from the librarian or the tutor to get it done at home. Don’t forget to
bring the completed paper back for their comments.
